Course of the tourist visit
The visit is done on foot, it is a circuit in the 5 hectares of the castle’s park.
A map is given to visitors to help them locate the works of street art.
Along the main aisle, the visitor can admire fifteen monumental works of street art, explanatory labels will allow him to know the artists. On the labels, qr codes lead to the biographies.
Halfway a work of land art will not fail to surprise them.
Arrival at the highest point of the visit, the terrace of the castle with the unique view of the confluence of the Loire and the Vienne and the collegiate church built in honor of the monk Saint Martin.
Two works have found their place on the terrace “the slam of the artist Artof Popof “sortez vos bombes…” and the work of Alan Reullier “Le Taureau Duchamp” almost Ready Made in tribute to Marcel Duchamp.
After a break on the terrace and its remarkable 200-year-old yews and its rose garden, the visitor will continue his circuit by the top of the park, he will stop in front of another fifteen works at the before arriving at the arena.
This arena is unique in Touraine, our research has not made it possible to determinate its origins with certainty. It was probably used for animal fighting. The majestic tufa stone porch that overlooks it could accommodate spectators and the walls of the arena walls were sloped to prevent the animals from escaping.
This arena in 2019 was taken over by the street art artist Popay who totally transformed it with his bright and joyful colors.
It will remain for visitors to choose among the various small paths available to meander from one work to another towards the exit, or to sit on one of the benches to let themselves be part of the mystery of this place, which shelters in the basement vestiges several thousand years old.
The terrace, the buttresses, the facades of the castle and the tower are listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments.
